Building

The Building Department is here to serve the residents of Willowick by enforcing the Ordinances of the City of Willowick and the Building Codes of the State of Ohio in order to protect the property values.

Department Functions

• Review and approval of all residential and commercial plans for new construction or alterations/additions to existing structures
• Issuance of Zoning Permits
• Issuance of Point of Sale Certificates
• Issuance of Commercial Establishment, Non -Owner Occupied and Multi-Family Licenses
• Perform inspections for compliance of Ordinances
• Issuance of Contractor registration certificates 

PLEASE READ:

Building Permits required by the Ohio Building Code and Residential Code of Ohio are administered by the Lake County Building Department (440-350-2636). For Building, HVAC, Mechanical Plumbing and Electrical applicable Zoning Permits from the City may be required prior to issuance of a Building Permit from Lake County.

ALL CONTRACTORS doing business in the city are to be registered with the city, even if they are already registered with the county or other agency.  Any person, firm or corporation other than the homeowner who performs or authorizes the performance of any work in the City without first obtaining a certificate of registration and the appropriate permits, shall be subject to penalty based on Codified Ordinance 751.99.
