A TRIBUTE TO RICHARD J. REGOVICH

Regovich

Richard J. Regovich’s life was defined by service, family, and community. Born and raised in Willowick, he dedicated himself to the people of Lake County from his earliest days. He began his public service on the Willowick Planning Commission, later serving on the Charter Review Committee and City Council before becoming Mayor of Willowick for over six years. As Mayor, Rich led with humility and vision. His leadership was marked by compassion and a hands-on-approach. He founded Willowick Hearts and Hammers, a program to help seniors and neighbors in need.

Richard’s service did not end at the city’s borders. As Lake County Commissioner, he carried his values to a broader stage, advocating for safety, economic growth, and preservation of the quality of life that makes Lake County such a special place. His leadership was never about recognition – it was about responsibility, and he embraced that responsibility with grace. He believed that government should be about people first, and he lived that belief every day.

Beyond his public roles, Rich was a devoted husband to his wife Lynn, his childhood sweetheart, and a proud father to Brian and Lizzie. He was known not only as a leader, but as a neighbor and friend.

As we remember Rich, let us honor him not only in words, but in the way we live. Let us carry forward his spirit of generosity, his belief in community, and his example of servant leadership. May his memory inspire us to build stronger connections, to care for one another, and to serve with open hearts.
