Do you want to learn how to design, install, and maintain a rain garden? Chagrin River Watershed Partners and Lake County Soil & Water Conservation District are offering an in-person Master Rain Gardener certification course this summer!
Rain gardens are saucer-shaped gardens filled with native, wet-tolerant plants that capture and soak in rainwater that runs off impervious surfaces like roofs, lawns, and driveways. They not only help with ponding in your yard, but they also filter out pollutants that would otherwise end up in our waterways. When replicated across the residential landscape, rain gardens can make a big difference in protecting the water quality of our local streams and Lake Erie!
This course consists of 5 classes over a 6-week period and will teach you how to design, install, and maintain a residential rain garden. All graduates will receive a Master Rain Gardener certification, t-shirt, and yard sign!
Classes will be on Thursdays from July 10th – August 14th at the Watershed Stewardship Center in Parma. This course will also offer a professional track geared towards landscaping professionals. To learn more and register for the course, visit their website at www.neomasterraingardener.org.
