General Information

The Mayor of Willowick also serves as the Safety Director.  The Mayor legally is the CEO of the municipality elected by the voters every two years.  The Mayor supervises a staff of over 170 employees during the year and over 250 with seasonal summer personnel.  The total annual budget is over $18 million annually with a general fund budget of nearly $8 million to operate the city. 
 
Richard J. Bonde is the present Mayor having served in many appointed and elected capacities in the city since high school.   He has lived in the city for most of his life having attended St. Mary Magdalene School as a child.  Mayor Bonde earned a BA from John Carroll, MA from John Carroll, and a Ph.D. from Cleveland State University.   His offices are at City Hall on Lakeshore Blvd.  He was elected for a full term in November, 2005 and was re-elected in November, 2007.
