The department is staffed by part-time firefighters, except for the chief and fire marshal both who are full time. The fire station is manned by six firefighters around the clock.  We provide fire suppression service, emergency medical service, fire prevention and public education services.  We respond to approximately 1,800 calls for assistance annually.   Our primary response  vehicles consist of two pumpers, one aerial truck and two advanced life support ambulances.

Our manning strength of 72 firefighters is determined by city ordinance. This includes the Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, 4 Captains, 8 Lieutenants, 57 firefighters and 1 fire marshal. One of the Captains is in charge of the Vehicle / Station Maintenance, one is in charge of the Training Division, one is in charge of the Computer Network / Communications and the other is in charge of the Emergency Medical Services. The Fire Prevention Bureau conducts plan reviews, building and fire protection system inspections, school fire drills, education programs for the pre-school, kindergarten and 3rd grade students in all city schools.
