Income Tax The City of Willowick levies a municipal income tax of 2% on all salaries, wages, commissions and other compensation, and net profits earned within the City. Willowick residents are required to pay this tax on income they earn outside the City, but are given a credit of 87.5% of the tax paid to the community in which they worked. All residents or partial-year residents who are 18 years of age or older and had "earned" income are required to file a return, regardless of whether taxes are owed or not. Additionally, all Willowick businesses and all non-resident businesses performing services within Willowick are required to file a return. Income tax returns must be filed and any balances paid by April 15th . A declaration of estimated tax must also be filed by April 15th of each year and must be accompanied by at least one-fourth of the estimated tax. The remaining installments are due quarterly on or before July 31st, October 31st and January 31st. The City utilizes the Regional Income Tax Agency (R.I.T.A.) as its tax collecting agent.
